This building forms part of Spinola Complex that was built in 1688 during the reign of the Grand Master Gregorio Carafa on the land acquired by the Spinola family. The complex consists of a palace, a chapel, stable, a belvedere, and a twin boat sheds on the shore. Together these buildings are the most important buildings in St. Julian's. The building in question is the Belvedere that was separated from the palace by an avenue of trees. This place was the first theatre on the island were performances were held, entertainment provided by the abbot for the local villagers. The present owner has advised us that a permit has been obtained to turn it into a piano/wine bar and for the restoration of the property.
